Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it will be expanding its management team and opening a new office in Phoenix, AZ.  “The last few months have been very exciting ones for the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman.  “We have undertaken several major new initiatives and felt that it was time to expand our management team to take advantage of a host of new opportunities, one of which is our relationship with ESPN3.”

Ron Tilley, owner of the Arizona Scorpions, has been named President/COO  of the league.  Ron will relinquish his ownership of the team and concentrate on overseeing many of the key ABA programs. He has  played and coached professionally in the US, Europe and Australia for over 25 years and is a successful businessman and owner of the Fenix Group, an agency providing services to people with disabilities.  Ron and his wife Tris have owned the Scorpions since 2011.

Dan McClintock has been named VP of Basketball Operations.  Dan was drafted in the 2000 draft by the Denver Nuggets.  Following his play in the NBA, he played for the ABA Kansas City Knights, and has played professionally for 13 years in seven different countries in Europe and Asia, including replacing Yao Ming on the Chinese team when Yao came to the US to play.  Dan also spearheaded a network of professional players that provided sponsorship of orphan care homes in Africa that provided a trusted and safe home
environment for children.  He has close relationships with the NBA and NBDL and is a member of the NBA Retired Players Association.

Brian Proud has been named Director of Marketing and has been in the sports and entertainment industry for 15 years working with the NBA Phoenix Suns, MLB Arizona Diamondbacks, NFL Arizona Cardinals, WNBA Phoenix Mercury.  He spent four years with WWE in the US, Europe and Middle East after spending seven years with the US Airways Center and Comerica Theatre in Phoenix working with Live Nation, America’s premiere entertainment company.

All three executives reside in Phoenix, AZ.  An office is being established there.  “Obviously, we are very excited to be a part of the ABA management team,” stated Tilley.  “Joe Newman and Dick Tinkham have done a remarkable job building the ABA to be the largest professional sports league in the US and the most diversified also.  Brian, Dan and I are eager to get started on many of the new initiatives undertaken by the league in media, licensing, entertainment, sponsorships and major partnerships with other sports organizations.  Working together, we hope to maximize the potential that this great league with its remarkable brand has.”   For more information, email visit www.abalive.com.
