Details of 2014 ABA Championship Finals Announced

Free and reduced-price admission, live entertainment among nightly offerings planned for ABA Championship Finals in Shreveport-Bossier


SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER – The 2014 American Basketball Association (ABA) Championship Finals will be held at the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, April 10-15, featuring fiercely competitive games between the top eight teams in the ABA power rankings. The undefeated Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks, who won National Championships in 2010 and 2011, are among the teams vying for the title, as are the following teams: Jacksonville Giants, the South Florida Gold, the Bay Area Matrix, the  Arizona Scorpions, Chicago Steam, , and Jersey Express. One additional qualifying team will be announced soon.  

Nightly promotions offering free or discounted admission to fans who show their team spirit have been announced for each night of the ABA Championship Finals. A tentative schedule of live entertainment has also been announced.

Details of each night are:


Thursday, April 10 – Community Night
Wear your organizational or non-profit t-shirt to receive half-price general admission.
Game 1 Tip-Off at 6 p.m.; Game 2 Tip-Off at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. prior to game time, come out to the Holiday Inn Airport location at 5555 Financial Plaza to an open to the public Meet and Greet and Press Conference.  Meet Players and Coaches.  Press Conference to be held in the Hotel

Atrium area. 

Friday, April 11 – Ladies Night
Ladies who wear pink and/or pumps will receive free general admission.
Entertainment: Fair Park High School Band, USA Jump Rope Team
Game 3 Tip-Off at 6 p.m.; Game 4 Tip-Off at 8 p.m.

Saturday, April 12 – School Spirit Night
Show a current school ID (or, for younger students, wear a school shirt) to receive half-price general admission.
Entertainment: Green Oaks and Booker T. Washington High School bands, Rave Party with DJ Breeze
Game 5 Tip-Off at 6 p.m.; Game 6 Tip-Off at 8 p.m.

Sunday, April 13 – Veteran and Military Night
Active and retired military receive free admission, their family and friends receive half-price admission.
Entertainment: Huntington High School Band, Boy Scout posting of the colors
Game 1 of ABA Championships Tip-Off at 4 p.m.

Monday, April 14 – Black Out Hirsch Coliseum
Regular ticket prices apply, fans are asked to wear black Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks t-shirts
Entertainment: National Anthem sung live by Larry Ellis, Booker T. Washington High School Drumline
Game 2 of ABA Championships Tip-Off at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 15 – TBA
