Shreveport/Bossier LA.  Joe Newman, CEO of the American Basketball Association (ABA) this week announced that the Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks will host the 2014 ABA National Championship Finals in April.  All games will be held at the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The eight teams at the top of the ABA Power Rankings will compete in the double elimination play-offs beginning Tuesday, April 8th.  Rankings for the week ending Sunday Feb 2 place the Mavericks and Jacksonville Giants as the #1 and #2 teams in the ABA, followed by the Richmond Elite, Arizona Scorpions, Atlanta Wildcats, North Dallas Vandals, Chicago Steam and Calgary Crush, respectively.
Competition is expected to be fierce heading to the Final Four on Friday, Apr 11, especially between the Mavericks and Giants. Both teams hold back-to-back National Championships – the Mavericks on in 2010 and 2011, and the Giants won in 2012 and 2013 – but the powerhouses have not met at center court since the Mavericks’ victory over the Giants in the 2011 playoffs.
“We’re heading towards an inevitable showdown in the playoffs between the Mavericks and Giants,” said Newman.  “But there are quite a few other teams that have their eyes on the Championship and cannot wait to make the challenge in Shreveport.”
Play-off and Final Four tickets will be available at the Coliseum daily, 10am until 8pm, beginning March 31st, and through showtimes on game days.  Tickets and additional information are also available online by
