Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the South Houston Assualt has been added as an official ABA travel team for next season and will play 10-15 games. “ABA travel teams are an important part of the ABA plan,” stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. “The ABA travel teams fill in holes in regular ABA schedules and provide excellent competition for our teams and we believe that the South Houston Assault will be no exception.”
Led by Cory Tellis, a former starting point guard from the University of Houston from 2009-11, the South Houston Assault is a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for young players seeking a professional career in basketball. “There are so many good players in the Houston area,” added Tellis. “And we feel that we can be very competitive. We appreciate the ABA giving us an opportunity to compete on that level. Our players are very excited.”
The South Houston Assault will host an Open Player Tryout on Saturday, June 22 at the South Houston
High School, 3820 Shaver St., South Houston TX 77587 from 1pm-7pm. Selected participants from the tryouts will play a scrimmage game against the UBA South Texas Spirit at 7pm. For registration, log onto
